History Of 1888 Morgan Silver Dollar

The dollar coins made in 1888 were the 10th mintage of  Morgan dollars. This coin’s name is derived from, George T. Morgan. The first time these coins were made due to the mining industry. The mine owners wanted to secure wares. There were a larger number of Morgan dollars coins made each year and made until 1904. In 1918 there were a larger number of coins for circulation. Now they are not high numbers

Coins were made with 90 percent of silver coins were melted due to the Act. There were no Morgan dollars made between 1904 to 1920. In 1921, they were resurrected for a single year.
