1935 No-Mint mark Quarter Value

The San Francisco mint made 5.6 million quarter coins in 1935, and these coins have a composition of 90% silver and 10% copper. There is an S mint mark on these coins. These coins are low grade and easy to find, but some high-grade ones are rare and high value.

1935 Quarter Errors List

Doubled Die Error

The double die error is a very common type of error in coins. This error occurs when the doubling effect can be seen on coin design words, letters, and mint marks. Broad struck error

A broad strike error is the result of the coin not properly handling the collar and resulting in the flat design that is called a broad strike error. The coins in this error sold for 40 dollars with a VF30 grade.

In this error, coins struck with a dime blank. This error coin has a circulated size of about 10C coins. The AU 58 grade coins sold for 2600 dollars.

Repunched Mint Mark

In this error, coins have a repunched mint mark error that is double struck on coins and makes an RPM error on coins. This error is commonly seen on coins minted at Denver and San Francisco mints and not exists in Philadelphia-minted coins.

Off-Center Strike

At the time of design, printing on coins, the design was not accurately struck on coins and put on coins out of center, making off-center error coins that did not have proper designs or misaligned error coins. The 10 to 15 percent off-center error coins are low value, but 50 percent off-center with clear details are high value.

History of the 1935 Quarter

The Washington quarter was first made in 1932 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the president. The 1935 quarters are also part of that coin series that are historically important. The 1935 quarter was made when the country was in a difficult time and facing different challenges. In 1931 there was a time of Great Depression, but the US government wanted to celebrate the 200th anniversary of George Washington without celebration.

For this occasion, the Treasury Department asked to make half dollars. Everyone was agreed that there was a design competition arranged for coins.

John Flanagan’s design was selected for coin design, where the design has a photo of the president facing left and the back side eagle with outstretched wings and the motto E Pluribus Unum with the country name written.

The 3 mints Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco made coins in 1935 quarters. Philadelphia mint made 32 million 1932 quarters without mint mark; S mint made 5.6 million coins, and D mint made 5.7 million coins. Total: 1935 quarters, 46,924.00.

Washington quarters composition

From 1932 to 1998, the quarters had the same design, and some coins had a silver composition and others had clad cupronickel that was made with 75% copper and 25% nickel.

Silver coins made in 1965 and after 1992 are 90 percent silver. The coins with red trace are clad coins, as nickel is worn off and copper is shown. The silver quarters have mint marks on the back side and clad coins on the front side.

The silver coin’s weight is 6.25 grams, and clad coins are 5.67 grams.
