The Roosevelt Dimes was first time made in 1946 after the death of Franklin Roosevelt, who was the USA’s 32nd president. In 1938 Non-profit organization called March of Dimes had the purpose of enhancing the health of mothers and children.

When the president died in April 1945, for tributing him his photo was added on dimes. The Roosevelt dimes were replaced with mercury dimes, and with the death of the president new coin, was referred to as made.

After 25 years since releasing Mercury dime made and released for circulation, no COngressional approval is needed.  The designs of these new coins were made by  Chief Engraver John R. Sinnock

1951 Roosevelt Dime Features

The front side of coins comes with Roosvelt’s photo facing left. The word LIBERTY is also written on this side and the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST”. The mint year 1951 is written on this side and the designer’s initials “J.S” are also mentioned.

The back side of the coins has a Roman Torch in the middle of the coins with 2 branches. The left branch is olive and the right side is oak which is a symbol of peace. E PLURIBUS UNUM is also written there and the country name is “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” The denomination “ONE DIME,”  is mentioned on this side.
